The Journey Behind AltaCode

It’s 2006—almost 20 years ago—when AltaCode begins its its journey with a 3-5 developers team at a small rented office overlooking Cascade. Just in 5 years in 2010 with already 50+ team Altacode was among the first companies to move to the Yerevan Computer Research and Development Institute, also known as the Mergelyan Institute.

The CEO and founder, Edgar Hambaryan, together with some close friends, shared a vision that would not only prove feasible but shape reality over the next two decades. They laid the very first stones of what would become Armenia’s thriving IT outsourcing industry. AltaCode emerged as one of the very first Armenian companies dedicated to IT outsourcing.
Through sheer grit, determination, and a willingness to adapt, AltaCode began to carve out a name for itself as a leading technology and software development company. As its reputation grew, so did its customer base across the US, EU, CIS.
From day one, AltaCode has carried a mission it still upholds: to boost Armenia’s technological excellence and played a key role in shaping the tech landscape we see today. As a true pioneer, AltaCode also created the first-ever Armenian IT job portal. It ran seamlessly and free of charge for 10 years.

In 2006, Edgar founded AltaCode, which would grow to be one of Armenia’s trusted IT outsourcing companies. With over 30 years in software development and more than 20 years in IT entrepreneurship, his journey has always been about more than just technology. From the very beginning, he believed in Armenia’s technological future - and its young talent. He focused on creating real opportunities for that talent.

Karen is the technical backbone of AltaCode, bringing 30+ years of experience across software development, IoT, embedded systems, and hardware design. He has contributed to high-impact projects ranging from secure defense systems for the U.S. Army to enterprise platforms like VMware Aria Operations. With deep expertise in mission-critical and large-scale infrastructure solutions, he ensures every project is delivered with precision, reliability, and strong ownership.ensuring it is always in safe hands.
